WHAT TO EXPECT IN A COUNSELING/THERAPY SESSION

THE FIRST SESSION: When you arrive at Margaret’s reception area and are welcomed into her cozy and secure office, you will be asked to fill out a form with your basic information. This initial meeting will be a relaxed and meaningful opportunity for Margaret to get to know you. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and to tell her what your problems are, the circumstances and what you would like to get from counseling/therapy. She will be formulating a diagnosis and a positive therapy plan to achieve what you want to do.

This methodology includes a through assessment, followed by the creation of positive goals. The therapy involves the identification of feelings and thoughts and a blend of processing, cognitive therapy; it also develops coping strategies and methodical approaches to change and a successful recovery to a happy, peaceful, enjoyable life. This can be accomplished if you are willing to make the effort.

CONTINUING COUNSELING/THERAPY: Since most problems are longstanding and have been in place for some time, the continuation of a treatment plan may be in order for achievement of your goals for change and resolution of the problems in your life. This depends on your progress and desire for change, too.
